Texas Home Visit Program Director

Saint Francis Ministries is pleased to announce that Katherine May has been named the nonprofit child and family services organization’s director of the Texas Home Visit Program.

Earlier this year, Saint Francis Ministries received a Texas Home Visiting (THV) grant award from the Department of Family and Protective Services to support in-home prevention services in Bell and McLennan Counties. May will lead the Saint Francis Home Visit Team in providing in-home prevention services in Central Texas.

May brings to the position extensive experience in working with children and families in schools, workplaces, camps, homes, and academic settings. Prior to joining Saint Francis, she served as a parent educator with Waco ISD Parents as Teachers. As a social worker, she has also worked closely high school students, most recently as part of the Waco High School BEAR Project and Midway ISD’s EXCEL (credit recovery), DAEP (alternative school), and PEP (pregnant and parenting) programs.

“Through my experience in social work, I have developed a passion for early intervention and holistic family support,” she said. “It truly takes a village to raise healthy children, so families greatly benefit from receiving support early and often in their parenting journey. I am excited to work with Saint Francis in providing support to families to heal from life’s stressors and to help prevent the impact of further stress.”

A Licensed Master Social Worker, May received both her MSW and her Bachelor of Social Work from Baylor University.

“Saint Francis is thrilled to have Katherine onboard,” said Cristian Garcia, SFM chief program officer. “The energy, expertise, and professionalism she brings to our Texas Home Visit team

will help ensure the success of our in-home prevention efforts to keep children and youth home where they belong.”

May and the THV Team will work out of SFM’s new office at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Waco. She will also participate in the office grand opening scheduled for later this month.
