Guidance and Tools for Families in Central Texas
Saint Francis Ministries Texas Home Visiting (THV) partners with families to identify and build upon their existing strengths so they can provide for the health and security of their children. We provide guidance and tools for families facing challenges, supporting long-term family well-being and helping strengthen stability early on to prevent the need for outside intervention.
THV achieves this by using the Family Check-Up Model. Family Check-Up is a brief, family-centered, and strengths-based approach to mindful parenting, tailored to family strengths and needs.
This program is specifically designed for families not involved in foster care or the child welfare system.

How Texas Home Visiting Family Check-Up Works
Assessment & Goal Setting
- Combines assessment with motivational interviewing to engage families in identifying strengths and areas for improvement in parenting.
- Uses collaborative feedback and goal setting with parents to bridge to Everyday Parenting and other follow-up services as needed.
Follow-Up Services
- Primary follow-up services are provided via Everyday Parenting curriculum, which offers parents simple, practical parenting strategies to promote positive behavior support, setting healthy limits, and building family relationships.
- Additional support services are available to help families identify and work toward non-parenting related goals.
- Transportation is offered, as relevant, while families are in services. Transportation can be scheduled around the time of the session.
Services Delivered Directly in the Home
Texas Home Visiting enables clinicians to directly observe families where members are most comfortable – at home. Interaction with family members within their natural setting makes it possible to observe and support healthy routines in real time.
