May is Foster Care Appreciation Month, an observance that Saint Francis Ministries holds near and dear to the heart. Foster parents are our valued partners in providing healing and hope to children.
Foster parents open their homes and hearts – helping children heal, trust, and hope again. Children in care range in age from birth to 21, with most being school-aged. Most enter foster care due to abuse or neglect, while others exhibit behavioral disorders. We strive to keep sibling groups together and in their home community.
Whatever their story, each child in foster care needs a safe place to stay and a family to provide for their emotional, educational, medical, and special behavioral needs.
Speaking of stories … we’ve recently created videos about two of our wonderful foster families, the Hunters and the Jungs.
Jerone and Valerie Hunter live in Wichita and specialize in caring for high-needs adolescent boys. Learn more about them here.
Aubrey Jung is a Saint Francis Resource Worker in Tulsa, where she and her husband, Blake, foster children of multiple ages, all while raising their own biological children. You can check them out here.
The Hunters and Jungs are just two examples of the dedication, compassion, and love foster families bring to the table every day.
