Saint Francis Ministries CEO William J. Clark recently met with Kansas Senator Jerry Moran and his staff to advocate for the preservation of critical child welfare funding from multiple federal sources. Saint Francis also hosted several elected officials at a Wichita Wind Surge community gathering, during which they discussed child welfare issues with SFM staff and other attendees. Such informal conversations help build stronger relationships and raise awareness of the important work happening across SFM programs.
In the legislative interim, Saint Francis’ advocacy efforts remain focused on three key policy areas: expanding access to appropriate services, addressing workforce recruitment and retention, and tackling liability insurance concerns within the system.
Saint Francis Ministries will continue to provide testimony in Kansas to the Joint Committee on Child Welfare System Oversight while collaborating with other Texas child welfare providers and legislators to build on the positive progress being made by Single Source Continuum Contractors (SSCC) in supporting children and families. Our team remains actively engaged with lawmakers, associations, and subject matter experts to shape the policy landscape and keep these priorities at the forefront.
