Every day, more than 700,000 U.S. social workers provide essential services to the most vulnerable among us. Working within a wide range of settings, social workers help those without the skills, access, and resources to keep their children safe and their families secure.
They do this by empowering others, so families can learn to cope with challenges and find the services they need.
That’s why Saint Francis Ministries joins the rest of the nation every March in celebrating National Social Work Month.
The National Association of Social Workers has designated this year’s theme: “Elevate Social Work”.
Perhaps more than any other profession, social workers understand how severely societal pressures such as poverty, discrimination, domestic violence, substance use, mental illness, and lack of access to resources affect the health and happiness of human beings.
Social workers are challenged daily to find solutions to these problems.
For more than a century, social workers have labored at the forefront of efforts to improve the lives of others.
Saint Francis social workers are often the first point of contact with those we serve, the face of our ministry. They form the front line in our mission to be instruments of healing and hope for children, youth, and families.
For that, we thank them.
