Saint Francis Ministries to Host National Adoption Day

Saint Francis Ministries will host National Adoption Day events this week in Kansas, Nebraska, and Texas in celebration of children and adoptive families.

In Kansas, multiple families will finalize adoptions at the Sedgewick County Courthouse in Wichita (11/17) and the Ellis County Courthouse in Hays (11/14), with parties and celebrations for adoptive families at the Harry Street offices in Wichita (11/18) and the Otis Street offices in Salina (11/17).

Nebraska staff will host adoption finalizations for three children at the Douglas County Courthouse in Omaha, followed by cookies and cake.

In Texas, Saint Francis staff will host adoption finalizations at Randall County Courthouse in Canyon (11/16) and at Lubbock Impact in Lubbock (11/17), followed by parties for adoptive families. Beginning at 9 a.m., the National Adoption Day Proclamation will be read at each location, and the first adoption will take place.

President Bill Clinton proclaimed the first National Adoption Month in 1995, and it has been celebrated every year since. According to the U.S. Children’s Bureau, approximately 114,000 children and youth wait to be adopted and are at risk of aging out of foster care without permanent family connections. Saint Francis Ministries provides adoption services in Kansas, Nebraska, and Texas.
