Thousands of Saint Francis Ministries children in foster care to receive duffle bags, bibles, and teddy bears

Saint Francis Ministries children in foster care in Kansas and Nebraska will soon receive duffle bags, teddy bears, and bibles to call their own, thanks to a generous contribution by Focus on the Family’s “Wait No More” program. The Colorado Springs-based ministry recently shipped 2,000 duffel bags and teddy bears and 2,000 bibles to Saint Francis Ministries’ Otis Avenue campus in Salina, Kansas, from where they will be disbursed to youth in foster care in Omaha and Grand Island, Nebraska, along with SFM locations throughout Kansas.

Unfortunately, children often enter the foster care system with nothing but the clothes on their backs or a few personal belongings carried in a plastic trash bag. The suitcase bundles provided by “Wait No More” will provide children in Saint Francis Ministries care with a duffle bag and other items to call their own and lend them comfort.

“The collaboration between Saint Francis Ministries and Focus on the Family has been an 18-month endeavor, and the bundles arrived in time to celebrate and honor kids in our care, since May is National Foster Care Month,” said Allison Webb, foster care homes recruiter. “Children in foster care routinely do not have luggage in which to carry their personal belongings as they move between foster care homes. This shipment not only provides them with suitable luggage but a bible, with an inscription by someone close to them and a teddy bear “friend” to travel with them.”
