Independent Living
When our kids age out of foster care, we help their transition to adulthood
Each year close to 25,000 children nationwide age out of foster care without the benefit of a family or permanent home. That puts them at tremendous risk for homelessness, joblessness, illness, incarceration, welfare dependency, early childbearing, and victimization.
The transition into adulthood can be especially difficult for young people without caring adults to help them navigate unfamiliar waters. When kids age out in Saint Francis’s service area, they can turn to us. Programs vary by state, but we assist with everything from mentoring and independent living skills to rent and educational assistance.
