Honoring Women, Strengthening Families

Earlier this month, we marked International Women’s Day, an occasion to honor the sacrifices and daily heroism of women, particularly those dealing with single parenthood, generational poverty, addiction, domestic violence, and other stressors.

Whether birth mothers, foster moms, kinship moms, grandmothers, or older siblings, caregiving women are fundamental to strong families and healthy children. In most families, the mother binds everything and everyone together.

For more than eight decades, Saint Francis Ministries has advocated for the dignity and worth of every individual, including the women who dedicate themselves to raising the next generation. When we provide parenting support, in-home services, and family-centered resources, we are investing directly in mothers. And when we invest in mothers, we invest in children, in neighborhoods, and in the future of entire communities.

Research consistently shows that educated, supported women raise healthier children, contribute more fully to their local economies, and build stronger social networks. Uplifting one woman creates a ripple effect that touches countless lives.

At the heart of our work lies the mission to bring healing and hope for children and families, and the heart of those families – more often than not – are the women who provide temporary security for children in foster care, the women who give kids the support and confidence they need to thrive, and the women who overcome tremendous challenges so they can be better mothers, models, and caregivers to the children they love.
