Good Day Kansas – Match Madness with Ginny Ellis

In this Good Day Kansas segment, Ginny Ellis, Executive Director of Development at Saint Francis Ministries, shares details about Match Madness—one of the organization’s favorite annual fundraising events in the Salina community.

Match Madness brings together more than 100 nonprofit organizations for a day of giving, connection, and friendly competition at the Salina Fieldhouse. The event gives community members the opportunity to learn about local nonprofits, make donations, and help maximize their impact through matching funds.

Beyond fundraising, the event creates an energetic atmosphere with activities like free throw and half-court shooting contests, making charitable giving both engaging and fun for attendees.

For Saint Francis Ministries, this year’s matching funds will support a critical need: the organization’s new emergency shelter, helping ensure youth—especially teenagers awaiting long-term placement—have a safe and stable place to stay during times of uncertainty.

As Ginny explains, Match Madness is more than a fundraiser—it’s a community-wide effort to strengthen local organizations and support meaningful work happening across the region. For Saint Francis Ministries, it’s another opportunity to rally support for children and families who need safety, healing, and hope.
