During the legislative interim, SFM has prioritized steady, relationship-based advocacy – meeting consistently with key lawmakers and decision-makers to position our priorities for the next session.
At the National Symposium on Community-Based Care, we connected with leaders nationwide who are implementing similar models. Conversations underscored the field’s shared challenges – workforce capacity, placement stability, and sustainable funding – and affirmed that SFM’s priorities are aligned with national trends and best practices.
In Kansas, Saint Francis Ministries was invited to serve on the Juvenile Justice Subcommittee, where we’re helping evaluate and shape potential legislative changes to better support youth involved in that system. Our participation strengthens coordination between child welfare and juvenile justice and reinforces SFM’s role as a trusted partner in reform.
In Texas, our advocacy team continues active engagement with leaders in Waco and surrounding areas, including participation in CBC 7 provider consortium meetings. This local consortium of providers and representatives meets regularly to guide the transition from the state-run system to Community-Based Care, fostering collaboration, identifying system needs, and building readiness for implementation.
Together, these efforts reflect SFM’s active leadership and commitment to thoughtful, system-level reform across the communities we serve.
