Christy Martinez-Garcia brings extensive experience in both corporate and nonprofit settings, having worked at the national and local levels. She currently serves as publisher and owner of Latino Lubbock Magazine, a bilingual publication reaching over 100,000 readers across the South Plains, and hosts Latino Lubbock Update, a weekly public affairs segment on the local CBS affiliate.

She is also the founder of Los Hermanos Familia, a nonprofit dedicated to “Strengthening Families, Building Community.”

Christy is serving her second term as the District 1 representative on Lubbock’s City Council. She also serves on several boards and commissions, including the South Plains Association of Governments, the Lubbock Metropolitan Planning Organization, and the Electric Utility Board, and is the council representative to the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance. She is a firm believer in service above self.
