Transforming lives and systems in ways others believe impossible can often begin with thoughtful changes in organizational and public policy. Well-designed, integrated, responsive systems help bring healing and hope to people’s lives. Poorly constructed systems exact too high a cost to human potential and to public resources. Saint Francis Ministries partners with community, state, and federal policy makers and stakeholders to ensure policies and systems are designed and operate to strengthen families and help children reach their full potential.
Our policy, advocacy, and consultation solutions draw on the experiences we share with children and families every day and what we learn through the healing programs and practices we use to address trauma, toxic stressors, and adversity. By pairing practical knowledge with expertise in policy research, development, advocacy and systems administration, Saint Francis brings a well-rounded, non-partisan perspective to advancing important and positive changes.
Saint Francis Ministries is working to promote the implementation of trauma-informed responses to the coronavirus pandemic. With the four initial laws that Congress has passed to begin the nation’s response to the pandemic, there is an opening to influence the direction of flexible, federal funding toward trauma-informed approaches and building resiliency. With guidance and leadership from trauma and resilience advocates, decision makers could choose to direct funds toward shaping many or all public systems trauma-informed and hope-building. Learn more.
